Everyone’s Telford College journey is different – and that’s what makes the campus such a vibrant and fascinating place to be.

There are many different ways for your child to become a Telford College student.

They might apply for an academic, vocational or apprenticeship course as the next step of their journey after finishing school.

They may be looking for a change of career direction, and attend one of our open events to see what’s available.

They could be looking to return to education at a later stage in their career to top up qualifications, or try something completely different.

Or they might be looking to expand qualifications on a part-time basis, side-by-side with the day job.

Here are some of the key milestones on the Telford College student journey:

Attend an open event

We open our doors at regular intervals each academic year to showcase the curriculum and offer bite-sized demonstrations. It’s a great way to see our university-style campus, meet our friendly and knowledgeable teaching and support teams, and get a real feel of what life is like at Telford College. Find out more about our upcoming open events - click here.

Attend a departmental tour

If your young person has already got a good idea which curriculum area they want to study, this is a great way to meet the team and get a better look at our university-standard facilities. Find out more about our departmental tours - click here.

Request advice and guidance

Our careers advice and guidance team can help your child make the right decision. They can arrange a meeting to talk through our courses and discuss career goals to make sure your young person is on the right pathway to meet their aspirations. Apply for a place

Your young person can apply for one of our courses at any time, even if they haven’t visited us yet, as long as they know which course, or combination of courses, they are looking for. It’s simple – just register using our online application system - click here.

Attend an interview

Once an application has been made, our admissions team will invite your young person into college for a chat with the team. They will talk in more detail about the preferred course, and find out a bit more about them.

Accept the offer

Assuming everything goes well at the interview, we will offer a place, subject to any upcoming exams and/or evidence of existing qualifications. It is important they contact us to accept the offer, as this officially secures their place at Telford College.

Ace the exams

If your young person is sitting exams before starting with us, we wish them the best of luck in getting the grades they expect - or better! Exam results are important, as our courses do have minimum entry requirements.

If your young person doesn’t get the exam results they were hoping for, don’t despair – there may still be opportunities open to them at Telford College. It’s important to make contact with us, so our careers advice team can talk through the options.

Apply for financial support

We will be in contact when our financial support portal is open for applications – in many instances, we could be able to offer support towards the cost of coming to college. Find out more about our financial support - click here.

Attend a new students' day

Near the end of each academic year, we hold new students’ days. This is a chance for students who have accepted their place to get a general feel for college life, and spend the day in their curriculum area, getting to know the team.

Receive enrolment information

Enrolment is the last step of your young person’s journey towards becoming a Telford College student. We will contact them before the summer with details of how to check and complete any additional information required – and explain when they need to come in for the enrolment appointment. Find out more about enrolment - click here.

Summertime support

Our admission, careers and advice and guidance teams are here throughout the summer to answer any questions. Our curriculum teams will also be accessible, so any course-related queries can be answered. Just bear in mind that it may take a little longer for a response during the summer break.

Attend an enrolment appointment

This is the stage when the final bits of paperwork are completed. At the end of this process your young person will be issued with a college ID badge, and initial timetable which outline their start date and time . . . once that’s done, they are now officially a Telford College student.
