Learning and development aims to improve group and individual performance, increasing their knowledge, skills and behaviours, and exploring how to apply them within their own role. Training allows you to strengthen those skills and prove competencies required for the job. You’ll learn to be able to deliver training in groups or on a one-to-one basis. This may include mandatory refresher and induction training.
Apprentices will complete a Certificate in Learning and Development.
An off the job record will be completed highlighting all the learning that has taken place (a min of 20% of the duration of the apprenticeship).
When the apprenticeship standard and the off the job learning hours have been completed apprentices move to Gateway. This is where the employer confirms competency and a project is set for the apprentice to complete ready for End Point Assessment. All work is competence based and the apprentice is given time off during their working hours to complete each unit and to collate evidence.
EPA 1 – Work-based project with Professional Discussion
The Work Based Project is a substantive piece of work, requiring the implementation of a learning and development solution to a real business problem – it should be based on real activity done in role (i.e. not simulated) to best demonstrated competence, and should demonstrate the aspects of the standard.
EPA 2 – Presentation and Q&A based on Learning Journal
On commencement, apprentices are required to start developing their Learning Journal. This activity will continue for the whole duration of the apprenticeship Apprentices are supported in the workplace and with regular reviews between the employer, tutor and apprentice to discuss progress and achievements.
Level 5 Learning & Development.
• A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades 4 – 9 (GCSE C or above) including English and Maths.
• Be able to work more than 30 hours per week
• To sit an assessment for English and maths
• To achieve English and math’s at level 2 before gateway
• Working in the education department is an advantage
